Treat-ees and Treat-ers

Founders Note: Today on the blog we have our awesome monthly contributor Kiki. She is sharing her heart on this months theme: Relationships.
Relationships are a two-way street. We give and we take and then we give and we take once more. But how easy is it to be just the receiver in the relationship? The receiver of the compliments, the receiver of the coffee, the receiver of the ride to work. It's easy because it makes us feel good inside, it takes less energy, and it makes us feel loved. Now before I continue, I need to tell you that there's nothing wrong with being on the receiving end of a gift of any kind. In fact, I think that the act of giving and receiving is important--especially in our relationships with Christ. But, like I said, relationships are a two-way street and part of being a receiver means we also need to be a giver, too. When I was presented with this month's topic on relationships, I realized just how often I find myself on the receiving end of compliments and treats from friends and loved ones these days. My schedule is tight and so is my budget and I find myself being treated far more than I find myself treating others. It makes me feel spoiled, to tell you the truth! So as the holidays draw nearer and stress levels rise, I want to challenge you to join me in being a giver. Let's give in our relationships with our families, friends, co-workers, and even strangers. Let's give our smiles, our coins, our coffees, and our time. And if you're on a budget like me, don't forget that the gift of a listening ear is sometimes way more valuable than a designer purse. So are you with me? If so, what gift would you like to give and/or receive today?
