January Swap Feature: What has God taught You this Past Year?

This month we have six lovely ladies on our sidebar, Today we are featuring five of them. This month we asked them the question: "What has God taught you this past year?"

For me (Britney)  God has taught me to remember that he is with me wherever I go. And this year he is teaching me trust, in all that is happening in my life.  So be sure to check out each of their blogs, you won't be disappointed!

What has God taught you this past year?

Kiki- God's taught me so many things this past year! He's taught me to share and embrace my singleness, to make new friends, to live in the present, to trust and keep on trusting, to re-define my blog, and to keep loving Him. There are so many other lessons that I've learned, but you'll just have to come visit me at my blog to find out!

Christina: Gosh there have been SO many lessons learned this past year! For one- trust in Him. I know, DUH! right? Well I mean, like absolute trust! My husband and I learned that we literally can NOT do anything without Him (which is perfect and awesome, but a hard lesson to learn!) From financial things to marital, to family- every single choice and hurdle we came to we learned to pray about and give to Him. He always always comes through. Also, I have personally learned how important it really is to be in the Word frequently. I was SO bad at that- just could not get myself to read the Bible or see it as living water- a daily need. But, gosh He is so good- through His grace and provision, I have learned the true importance of it. Without consistent time with Him, I end up running out of steam and gas SO quickly!

Courtney: This year I have had to learn how to pick up my cross and follow Christ. The cross chafes you painfully as you carry it, people mock you as you walk, it is hard to keep going when you are tired, and other paths seem easier. I have come face to face with my selfishness and at times have not wanted to keep going. I have doubted the Lord’s goodness and His plan. It has been a hard year spiritually. But I would not change it. Because this year I have tasted more of the Lord’s goodness than ever before. He has shown me how despite my faltering flesh, He never changes. He has revealed the sufficiency of Scripture. He has forced me to my knees and taught me that prayer is my lifeline. I would have to say that if I were to sum up this past year into the lessons that I have learned it would be: God is good and He works in His timing.

Robyn: this past year, God has taught me to be patient & trust in Him. a lot of times I like to plan things out & have everything go according to my plan....but God is teaching me to trust in His plan above all else. afterall, His timing is always much better than mine! :) He's also teaching me how to become a better wife - this year I got married & have been adjusting to wife life. through marriage, He's shown me how selfish I can be & He's teaching me how to be more like Jesus and serve other people (especially my husband) through grace & love. Meg: 2013 started out pretty rough for me, and I have struggled to be patient and to trust that Jesus really does have me where I'm supposed to be right now. Slowly but surely He has made that a little clearer. I've learned that no matter what circumstances I find myself in, Jesus is not surprised by them. He is in absolute control, and even on the hardest days, that is oddly comforting.  I keep learning over and over that Jesus does have a plan for my life. I've learned more this year to trust in the Lord's perfect timing. My life is not my own. It is the Lord's, and I have learned that it is in His hands that I am safest.

  1. Thank you all so much for sharing your hearts! What a beautiful post getting to read what Glorious things God is doing. This year God has been teaching me some of the same things. To trust him, and I mean really trust him. To wait, even when it's very hard. And that he is always working for my good, so I have nothing to worry about. What a great peace we have in Jesus knowing that all things work together for the good of those who love him! Thanks again for sharing! It's been a pleasure to have you ladies apart of The Quiet Place.

  3. Thank you for the spotlight post! I am always encouraged by the positive things others are doing. I hope that I can also inspire and encourage others in the world of blogging this year. I can really identify with Meg. 2013 was a tough and challenging year, but I look back fondly because I recognize that I would not change anyway that God led in my life. :-D
