"If grace is an ocean, we're all sinking" sang the David Crowder Band.
How true is that verse? Are we sinking in a sea of grace?
If you serve the God who sent his only Son to die on the cross for your sins and sins to come, then I would have to say yes yes we are drowning in his sweet grace.
But what is grace and how do we earn it?
Grace is the unmerited favor from God. Fortunately it's not like reward points, you can't get any more or less of it by your behavior. When Jesus signed his life on the dotted line for our sins we were given a portion of God's grace whether we wanted it or not. Whether we claim our portion of that grace is totally up to us.
Grace allows us to experience God's goodness and love even when we least deserve it. God's grace gives our lives meaning and allows us to have a relationship with him in spite of our past sins. God gives us so much grace that he expects us to share it with others.
Are you unsure of how grace manifests in your life?
God displays his grace in my life by:
Forgiving me for my sins.
Ephesians 2:4-9 Romans 5:12-21
Helping me to find strength when I am weak.
2 Corinthians 12:8-9
Helping me when I am in need.
Covering me when I feel alone.
Changing me into a better person than I used to be.
1 Corinthians 15:10
God's grace can be found in many parts of our lives and we are surrounded by so much grace that it can be hard to recognize it. You'll know when grace is in your life because it will change your heart. Grace helps you to forgive those who hurt you and grace helps you to know you are forgiven when you make mistakes. Grace closes the gaps that sin puts between us and God. Grace guides you to living out God's will for your life. Grace gives you strength to handle difficult situations that may arise in your life.
God's grace and love is so abundant that it is sufficient to cover our greatest sins. Grace can relieve you of guilt, hurt, anger, and hatred. Are you sinking in an ocean of grace?
