I don't know if you've ever had a broken heart, but let me tell you from experience that it feels like the whole world is falling apart. Everything you had dreamed and hoped for seemed to finally be at your fingertips, and then boom, it's gone.
I've found that Heartbreak is a lot like grief. You have to morn the loss of what you thought was going to be and that is a rough process.
It can be really hard to do life with a broken heart. Yet, amongst the mess, heartbreak, tears, emotions, and long days, God does not leave us by ourselves. In fact, God says in Psalm 147:3 that "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds". Psalm 34:18 also tells us that "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." And lastly God shows his love for the brokenhearted in Isaiah 61:1 where it says, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners" Here God's love is shown through the man speaking who says "God has sent me to show you that he loves you, and that there is hope". We have a great God who loves us and restores broken hearts who is with us and doesn't leave us to suffer alone.
Tying in with this month's theme I found that Romans 8:25 is encouraging to the brokenhearted...
"But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently".
This verse is telling us that even though we may not have what we long for in this world, we have a future hope knowing that we are heirs through Christ of the blessings to come in Heaven. And the greatest thing is that we don't have to live longing or hoping for love. Christ offers us that today, right now, and forever.
May your encouragement be in this sisters, God loves you.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
